BBL Laser in Nashville

BBL (BroadBand Light) is a medical-grade intense pulsed light treatment that corrects sun damage, brown spots, redness, rosacea, and small facial vessels while stimulating collagen. At Cool Springs Plastic Surgery it is performed by our provider team at the Brentwood Aesthetics Center and three additional Nashville-area locations.

About 45 minutes. Makeup may be applied immediately after treatment.

BBL is light-based rather than ablative — there is no peeling, and most patients return to their day the same afternoon.

BBL here means BroadBand Light — not a Brazilian Butt Lift.

Two unrelated procedures share the acronym. This page covers BBL BroadBand Light, a non-invasive light treatment for the skin. If you are looking for body contouring, our surgeons perform Brazilian Butt Lift surgery — a separate procedure entirely.

Treatable Concerns

What BBL Laser Treats

BBL uses filtered broadband light to target pigment and blood vessels at the same visit — correcting brown spots, redness, and rosacea while stimulating collagen, with no peeling afterward.

Pigment

Brown Spots & Age Spots

Sun-induced pigment, age spots, and freckles absorb the light, darken over several days, then microscopically slough away.

RecommendedBBL — series of 3, then yearly maintenance
Vascular

Redness & Rosacea

Diffuse facial redness and the flushing associated with rosacea respond to BBL in a way resurfacing lasers do not.

RecommendedBBL — the treatment of choice for redness
Vascular

Small Facial Vessels

Visible broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks are absorbed and collapsed by the light energy.

RecommendedBBL — often visible after one session
Acne

Active Acne & Breakouts

Forever Clear BBL targets acne-causing bacteria, then treats the redness and pigment breakouts leave behind.

RecommendedForever Clear BBL — for teens and adults
Firmness

Loss of Firmness

Heat delivered into the dermis stimulates collagen production, improving firmness and the appearance of fine lines.

RecommendedForever Young BBL — ongoing regimen
Tone

Uneven Skin Tone

Overall tone evens as pigment clears and redness settles — the change patients describe as looking rested.

The BBL Family

Which BBL Treatment Is Right for You?

BBL is a platform, not a single protocol. Your provider selects the filter, energy, and treatment pattern based on what your skin needs — which is why the same device treats brown spots, rosacea, and active acne.

BBL HERO

The core treatment

The foundation. Filtered broadband light for sun spots, age spots, facial vessels, and diffuse redness — performed without numbing, in as little as 15 minutes, with makeup applied the same day.

Forever Young BBL

Long-term maintenance

Sciton describes it as three treatments in one — pigmentation, redness, uneven tone, and textural change addressed together. Patients see results after a single session, but the lasting benefit comes from making it an ongoing part of your skincare regimen.

Forever Clear BBL

Acne

A multi-step acne protocol: first eliminating acne-causing bacteria, then treating the redness and hyperpigmentation breakouts leave behind, then boosting the skin’s healing response. Appropriate for teens and adults.

Light vs. Laser

BBL, Moxi, and Halo — How They Differ

BBL is light. Moxi and Halo are lasers. They solve different problems, and our providers frequently combine them in the same visit.

BBL — this page

Broadband light · No peeling

Best for pigment and redness. Treats brown spots, rosacea, and facial vessels. No peeling, makeup the same day. Fitzpatrick I–III ideal.

Moxi

Single wavelength · Non-ablative

Best for early pigment and prevention. The gentlest option, appropriate for all skin types, and safe through the summer.

Moxi laser in Nashville →

Halo

Dual wavelength · Hybrid fractional

Best for texture, pores, and deeper sun damage. More correction, in exchange for five to seven days of peeling. Our providers often pair Halo with BBL in one visit.

How It Works

How Does BBL Laser Work?

BBL delivers controlled pulses of broadband light into the epidermis and dermis. The light is absorbed by pigment and by the hemoglobin in small vessels, breaking both down, while the heat stimulates skin cells to regenerate collagen.

BBL Laser FAQ

What patients
want to know.

BBL stands for BroadBand Light. It is a medical-grade intense pulsed light treatment — not a laser in the strict sense — that delivers filtered light into the skin. The light is absorbed by pigment and by the hemoglobin in small blood vessels, breaking both down, while the heat stimulates collagen production. It is the reason BBL can treat brown spots and redness in the same session.

BBL addresses pigmentation, age spots, freckles, redness, rosacea, small facial vessels, active acne, loss of firmness, and overall uneven tone. Because it stimulates collagen, it also improves the appearance of fine lines over a series of treatments.

No. Two entirely different procedures share the acronym BBL. On this page BBL means BroadBand Light, a non-invasive light treatment for the skin. A Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical body contouring procedure performed by our plastic surgeons.

The appointment takes about 45 minutes in most cases. Patients typically describe the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. For comfort we offer nitrous oxide sedation, a patient-controlled gas system designed to relieve pain or anxiety. Numbing is generally not required.

There is no peeling and you may apply makeup immediately after treatment. You may experience some swelling and possible bruising. Treated brown pigment will darken over the next 7 to 10 days before microscopically sloughing off. Most patients return to their normal day the same afternoon.

The best candidates have uneven tone, brown spots, or redness and want increased collagen production. Fitzpatrick skin types I, II, and III are ideal. Types IV and V must first pre-treat with medical-grade skin care including a pigment corrector, a retinol product, and daily sunscreen. BBL is not appropriate for Fitzpatrick type VI because the risks of hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation are too high. All patients must stay out of direct sunlight two weeks before and two weeks after treatment, and avoid sunless tanning for four weeks prior.

We recommend a series of three treatments initially, then at least one treatment per year for maintenance. Forever Young BBL is designed to be an ongoing part of a skincare regimen rather than a one-time correction.
